Deku Link WIP by aphid777 Deku Link WIP by aphid777
Worked on this guy the entire day yesterday while listening to A Game of Thrones :)  Now that I've started listening to audiobooks, I don't have to choose between reading and crocheting!

That's a great idea to listen to audio books while crocheting why didn't I think of that! I've been trying to watch movies but they're so distracting. This deku link is looking really awesome! I can't wait to see him finished.

It's alright, took me this long to for me to start listening.  I should have started years ago! =P  And thank you for the compliment! :)

omg i learnt the joys of audio books recently too! yay!

Love the burlap sack tones.
On a side note, you could totally rework this pattern to make an awesome Kenny from Southpark (*hint*hint*) ;-)

That variegated brown yarn really looks great! And I'm freaking out a little bit over your hand-wiring process.

Thanks!!  I'm glad you noticed the brown.. since it isn't actually variegated yarn.. haha  I was trying to figure out how to get more of a textured look and ended up adding in crochet thread here and there.  I think it doubled the time it should have taken to finish those parts because of the extra strands in the way ^^;  As for the hands, I have finally started to develop somewhat of a systematic way of making them :D

where did you get that technique? Doo you have a book reference or just tried to add it?
DO you split a single yarn into thread and just add it to it like a normla color change but with it following the initial color thread all along?

I just tested it out and it seemed to work.. didn't learn it anywhere :)  I didn't split any yarn, just bought a couple rolls of crochet thread and thinner yarn to work with.  I did a lot of random color changes throughout, wherever I felt like I wanted a color change

No way, get outta here! :omg: That must have been so much work! I swore it was the yarn, it really looks so soft and subtle and really adds that natural element to the solid color.
I've never listened to an audio book before. I'm not sure how I'd like it, because I'm usually the type of person who needs to look at something in order to pay attention, but I kind of want to give it a try now, since I usually miss all of the important parts of a movie while I'm crocheting.  :XD:

Thanks!  I really wasn't sure how to go about it for a while.  I don't think it looks completely accurate, but I'm contented enough with how it turned out =P

I usually don't listen to audiobooks either but I've found that it's better than having to choose between my two loves :XD:  I do get a little impatient at how long it takes to finish a book.. but at least I don't have to sacrifice time for one thing over another   But I have the same problem as you.. it doesn't quite work as well when I'm watching a movie haha
