Baby Umbreon (with pattern) by aphid777 Baby Umbreon (with pattern) by aphid777

Slowly working through the other Eevee evolutions :)  I'm going to be on a short break on these after this one because I'm working on a project for :iconcrartisancrafts: contest, "Dreams".  So excited for it, but I hope I can finish in time!  Anyway, here is Umbreon!  (Black is such a difficult color to take photos of >_<).

As usual, please credit me should you use or alter this pattern since it takes me a lot of time to figure out and type these up and please be respectful and don't sell the finished product since I don't own this character!  Thank you!

If you would like to make a donation to fuel my yarn addiction and for the free patterns, I would be ever-so grateful! :dummy:

Heres my attempt. He ended up big cause I accidentally increased a stitch every row I went. Thank you so much for making the pattern, this little guy will be accompanying me to Anime North 2015

Hello, I'd like to ask you a couple questions. How much yarn did you go through to make this plush? And my mom knows how to follow the directions but neither one of us know what Sc dex or Fo or any of the abbreviations mean, could you please clarify?

Awesome pattern! Stuck on line 17 of the head, is 'dec,2,dec' a typo? And if not what do you mean?

Thank you! :)  I wish I knew of some good guides! :(  I ended up watching a ton of YouTube videos to learn the basics of needle felting, but most of what I learned was from practicing and breaking a lotttt of needles >_<  I even gave up for a while before trying it again maybe a year later.  I would recommend getting coarse needles if you can find them because the wool will stick a lot better.  I have a really basic tutorial here: Needle Felted Eyes: A basic picture tutorial.  Sorry I can't be of more help! :(

The eyes are made of wool roving that has been needle felted onto the surface :)

She used needle felting for the eyes - it's a process where you stab through loose fiber to make it tangle, or 'felt', together. You can either use loose roving or just brush out yarn you already have on hand to do this. It's art on it's own, but as you can see from aphids beautiful work it's also a handy tool for detail work on other fiberwork as well :)

Hey aphid,
I don't understand why there is an open FO on the body part?
The FO is on the undersite so nothing will be attached to it?
I'm just a beginner an try to make one of this little cuties for my girlfriend.

Besides, really nice work!

After you fasten off, leave a length of yarn so that you can sew the parts together.  Where the FO is located on the body is to help you position and construct Umbreon when you're done making the pieces.  The head, body, limbs, ears, and tail are separate pieces so you will have to sew them together after you've completed each piece.  I hope that makes sense!

:iconvivacia18:
Vivacia18 Featured By Owner Dec 25, 2014
The opening on the body is where you are going to attach the head - I've got some WIP shots here. You want to attach the top of the body to about row 8 of the head, and the bottom of the body to about row 16. If your finding it difficult to keep everything in place while you sew, I recommend skewing the head and body together with a long knitting needle, or a kebab skewer or something.

You might also find this tutorial on seamless joining helpful :)

Good luck, I'm sure your girlfriend will love it!

I made this for my bro for his first day at school (even a shiny!) as he said, he'd like to have. And then he dared to complain about the colours being wrong XD I was like: "Like f*** the colours are wrong! You wanted it that way!"
Now he wished for a shiny Espeon for Christmas XD

I really like those patterns! Thank you for sharing!

can you give us a photo of the yarn you used, brand size, I'm trying to figure out how to do this, but the yarn size you say you use and the hook you say you use are not recommended to be used together. European sizes?

I used this yarn for Umbreon: www.redheart.com/yarn/super-sa… and a size F hook (aka 3.75 mm).  I don't follow the recommended hook size because I want the stitches tight for amigurumi so that there will be no show-through of stuffing.

Oh that's odd.. I use this pattern for all my heads in this style and others have too with no problem.. :O  Maybe you can go back and double check that you've got the correct number of rounds with the correct number of stitches.  It could be that our gauging is different too   I don't think it should be terribly off though.
