Baby Pikachu (with pattern) by aphid777 Baby Pikachu (with pattern) by aphid777
First off, this pattern is incomplete.  I was not able to write proper instructions for the tail, just a really rough one that I have posted in my scraps here: fav.me/d74nhwc  I apologize for that, but I hope the notes I have will help!

I don't know if I'm completely happy with how Pikachu's face turned out.. I don't think he looks quite accurate, but it was difficult balancing accuracy with a similar style to the other three.  The ears are floppy on purpose because I like floppy ears :D  Eyes and other details are needle felted, though I'm sure regular cut out felt or embroidering will work too.   Let me know if you catch any errors!  Hope you guys have a great weekend and happy crocheting! :)

Arms:

**For optional fingers, include puff stitches.  Otherwise, ignore the slip stitches and puff stitches and just do single crochet stitches.

Puff stitch:
Do 3 incomplete double crochet stitches (all but the last step of the double crochet stitch) into the same stitch.   You should have 4 loops on your hook at this point.  Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops to complete.  Make sure  to tighten this stitch as much as you can before continuing to prevent holes from forming.

I really want to make one for my friend but I'm getting confused and keep messing up. I'm not quite undersranding when you say the [sc 2, inc] and so on. When I try it, I don't get the right amount of stitches and it then looks deformed. I'm still relatively new to crocheting.

It means to do 2 single crochet stitches, then increase in the third stitch, and repeat until you reach the end of the round.  I'm not too sure how else to explain it :(

This is amazing! I'm making one for my 4 year old cousin who I introduced to pokemon, because I'm the bestest cousin ever! All I have to do is find somewhere that sells felt! Anyways, do you come up with these patterns yourself and if so how!?

Thanks a lot!  Your cousin is very lucky! :D  If you're having trouble finding felt, I've bought some online before :)  And yes, I do come up with these patterns on my own.  I've just done enough that I can kind of figure out shapes now and of course, there's tons of trial and error ^^;

May i ask what kind of yarn do you normally use for these type of projects?

I usually use any worsted weight yarn.  I use a lot of Red Heart Supersaver brand since it's one of the more inexpensive brands (until I can afford better quality stuff ^^;)

I don't have instructions on where to attach everything since I generally just eyeball it.  It helps if you lay everything on a flat surface and pin the pieces together before sewing the parts together.

Hello!  I needle felted the brown striped onto the body after assembling everything.  You can also cut out some brown felt and glue/sew it on :)

Hey, can you tell me what you mean by like 'The FO point should be in the midline of the underside of the arm' and what not? I know FO means Fasten Off, but I just don't understand by what you mean by they should be in the midline of the underside of the arm or midline of the underside of the body.

And also, not that I'm complaining, but I think I spotted a small mistake, when making the body. In round seven you said to crochet around eight times, so wouldn't be like round seven through fourteen? Like,

7-14: Crochet in each sc around. (40)

15: Sc 6, dec, sc 6, dec,sc 3, dec, sc 3, dec, sc 6, dec, sc 6 (35)

Just curious! I love this amigurumi by the ways!

Thanks for the catch!  I've updated the correction :)

As for the FO point, I was just specifying where it should be to help in the construction.  So when I say midline of the underside of the arm/body, I just mean that when you're putting it together, the place where you've fastened off should be centered on the bottom side of the arm/body.  I hope that makes sense.. I'm not too sure how else to explain it.. ^^;

suggestion for the tail, which is what i did, felting over the yarn base makes it a little stronger, and also neatens it up a bit.
